The Assos S9 Team RS Bib Shorts, built on six years of technological development and featuring our most advanced insert to date, opens up new horizons in the world of cycling: it provides you with an unparalleled level of stability and comfort during your most demanding speed activities.
The S9 generation, built from the ground up with a brand new design, is the future of providing comfort throughout your rides. From years of testing and feedback from some of the top riders in the business, we believe that even our most advanced insert technology is nothing without the proper structure to go with it. Think about what your training means to your shorts: hours of pedaling, changing your posture and adjusting your movements to the terrain and curves, not to mention the time you spend dancing... It is therefore essential for your cycling shorts and its insert to be able to provide you with optimal comfort.
To achieve this, they used their new A-Lock Engineering reinforcement system, which consists of a combination of technologies and exclusive fabrics to stabilize the shorts and keep the insert in place. What makes the S9 generation unique is that it uses only two inserts. The main yoke, like the wings of a butterfly, wraps around the legs completely and meets at the back to form our new ergoBox structure. This design holds the insert in place effectively and wraps your legs in an extremely comfortable manner with our Type.441 fabric, designed specifically to provide a certain level of support and silky comfort. From there, we also added our proprietary rollBar design, inspired by the stabilizer bars in race cars, using the shorts' shoulder straps to keep the insert in place even as you shift your weight from left to right in the corners. Each strap is sewn into the seam just above the insert, ensuring that the insert always has the right amount of pressure.
The straps of the shorts have also been redesigned with calibrated stretch along the entire length. The back section is made up of a single section of elastic material, folded over itself and forming an A in the back. This structure provides a vertically restricted stretch to give you more stability. On the front, these straps have a more flexible, antibacterial carbon fiber material that wicks away sweat and doesn't form a crease.
Assos also focused on a single insert design (an improved version of their Team Evo design), which gave us the opportunity to reevaluate the most essential elements to achieve a streamlined insert specifically designed for racing. They reduced the overall footprint of the shorts to make them even lighter, using their superAir microShock foam in combination with 3D waffle fabric, and added their kraterCooler system to provide more ventilation in the front. They even went a step further and attached the insert to the back with their patented horizontal stabilizer. The result? ASSOS comfort, consolidated.
