1915
Louis Quilicot opens Bicycles Quilicot
Born to an Italian father in 1896, Louis opened his store just four years after arriving in Montreal, first at the corner of Rachel and De Lanaudière, then on Dorchester. Shortly after, he founded the first Canadian cycling club, the Club Quilicot. Later, in the 1970s, his son Antoine took over the business.

A famous member of the Quilicot Club, 17-year-old Jos Laporte was the youngest cyclist to compete in the Paris Olympic Games. He finished 54th in the road race, then 31st four years later. He became recognized as the best cyclist in North America.

1929
First edition of the Six Days
The Six Days of Cycling is presented at the Montreal Forum, a popular endurance event where riders take turns for six days and six nights. Jos Laporte wins the first edition. The race was held annually until 1942, and then returned from 1963 to 1980.

That year, Bob Lacourse, a member of the Quilicot Club, won the prestigious Quebec-Montreal race. Two years later, he represented Canada at the London Olympic Games. Unfortunately, he did not make it to the final. Bob Lacourse received his trophy from Montreal Mayor Camilien Houde. Louis Quilicot proudly watched his protégé.

Think you'd be a good addition to our team?
