Blog Post - une-future-kinesiologue-s-ajoute-a-l-equipe-quilicot

Committed to always distinguishing itself through the quality of service offered to its customers, the Bicycles Quilicot team recently welcomed new specialists.

Among them, Maryan St-Pierre, a new bike fitting specialist, joined the existing team. Passionate about cycling and a third-year kinesiology (BSc) student at UdeM, Maryan wishes to develop her expertise in the cycling world, including the Body Geometry Fit (dynamic postural study) bike fitting service.

Increasingly popular and in demand, the bike fitting service (basic, 2D and 3D) is now offered in our 3 branches, and Maryan will particularly focus on customers at the Laval and Montreal stores.

But what is kinesiology?

"This discipline studies human movement in the practice of physical activity, in various contexts: leisure, prevention, performance enhancement, and health improvement. It also helps people with deficiencies, disabilities, or chronic illnesses.

Kinesiology draws on several fields related to physical activity and sports, such as anatomy, motor learning, and biomechanics, but also on other disciplines like physiology, psychology, and sociology."

This excerpt, taken from the Université de Montréal kinesiology department page http://www.kinesio.umontreal.ca/autres_pages/mot_kinesio.htm , perfectly summarizes this discipline.

As a future kinesiologist, Maryan already had a solid foundation, which was further enhanced by the knowledge acquired during her BG Fit bike fitting training.

Her biomechanical knowledge is an additional advantage for performing a movement analysis that considers your physical characteristics, medical history, cycling style, and thus adapts the bike to your own physique, not the other way around. All of this is done for prevention, injury treatment, sports physical preparation, or performance improvement.

As you know, a long bike ride can sometimes become very unpleasant if your back hurts, if your hands or feet become numb, or if your saddle is not adapted to your pelvic anatomy. Know that for every problem, there is a solution that can improve your comfort on the bike.

Spring is upon us; do not delay in making an appointment with our specialists to start the season well.
