Magicshine: bike lights to see and be seen
From outdoor lighting to bike lights
Magicshine was founded in 1999 with a mission: to make outdoor lighting that keeps people safe in the dark. Its first bike light, the MJ-808, launched in 2008 and quickly caught on in the United States. The brand now offers lights for mountain biking, road, gravel and everyday riding, and describes itself as a leader in high-performance bike lights.
What the range covers
The selection carried at Bicycles Quilicot focuses on visibility at the back of the bike.
- Seemee rear lights: compact and USB-C rechargeable, from 20 lumens for the city up to 300 lumens for the road, with a motion sensor and an IPX6 water rating on the more powerful ones.
- Radar lights: a built-in radar detects approaching vehicles and triggers a warning flash. According to the brand, the range reaches 140 m on the most powerful one, which also sends the alert to compatible bike computers, including Garmin Edge, Wahoo ELEMNT, Hammerhead Karoo and Stages Dash.
- Group synchronisation: the PelotonSync function syncs the flashing of several compatible lights, for group rides.
Which light for which ride
In the city, a compact light is enough to be seen at dusk. On the road, where cars travel faster, choose a more powerful light and keep it on in daylight too, in flashing mode. The radar is a complement: it warns you of approaching vehicles, but it replaces neither a good light nor a glance behind you.
