Kuat: bike racks designed for vehicle transport
An American bike rack brand
Kuat is based in Springfield, Missouri. The brand designs vehicle bike racks, for hitches, roofs or truck beds, as well as accessories for other outdoor activities, from kayaks to skis. It has also teamed up with the National Forest Foundation in the United States to plant trees in national forests through its Future Forest initiative.
What the range covers
The selection carried at Bicycles Quilicot focuses on two families of parts.
- Dirtbag fork mounts: a mount that bolts to the surface of your choice, such as the floor of a pickup or a van, with two screws. You remove the bike's front wheel, set the fork in the mount and secure it with the thru-axle. The mounts come in several axle standards.
- Lock sets for Transfer racks: a set of locks for the Kuat Transfer bike rack (2 bikes).
Choosing the right fork mount
Before you buy, find your fork's axle standard (for example 12 × 100 mm or 15 × 110 mm) and pick the mount of the same standard: a mismatched axle keeps the fork from seating properly. Because the mount only holds the front of the bike, plan a way to secure the rear wheel during transport.
