Employee Profile: Thomas, Customer Service Agent
In our series of employee profiles, meet the people who bring Bicycles Quilicot to life every day. Today, we introduce you to Thomas, a customer service agent, whom you may have already seen on the roads or at local cycling events.
Presentation and background
" My name is Thomas, and I'm a customer service agent. I've been passionate about cycling since childhood, and I love sharing my passion with customers through tips and advice. I've been part of the Bicycles Quilicot family for almost eight years now—time flies!
I started working as a sales associate at the Rosemont store when it was located at the intersection of Masson Street and 2nd Avenue. After a few years, I had the opportunity to work as an assistant manager at our Villeray store, which was a very pleasant experience. I now work remotely in customer service while pursuing my university studies in the Eastern Townships .

Cycling practice
“ I practice almost all styles of cycling, except mountain biking, but that's not for lack of interest, more for lack of storage space for my bikes. I started cycling simply for pleasure, borrowing my father's Bianchi when I was younger, and I immediately loved the feeling of speed. I then bought my first bike, a fixed-gear , and that's when I caught the racing bug. I later joined a team that allowed me to participate in several races, including the famous Red Hook Crit in the United States twice—it was simply insane!
It was then that I started to do road bike races such as the Lachine Tuesdays and gravel bike races more seriously while also doing some cyclocross and fixed gear races throughout the season.
What I love most are long road or gravel bike rides. Having the privilege of spending several hours discovering new landscapes and quiet roads is an incomparable pleasure for me. I often map out rides to places I've never been, which allows me to compile a list of the most beautiful routes to help me in my quest to create the "perfect" itinerary. One of the best rides I've done was with my teammates a few years ago, from Montreal to Chicoutimi. Here's a glimpse of this great project for those who are curious: Watch the video

Favorite bike(s)
“ Of all the bikes I've had the chance to ride, my favorite has been my 2021 Specialized Aethos Expert equipped with Ultegra Di2 and Roval Rapide CLX wheels. It was a perfect combination of performance and comfort, all with a unique look. The comfort and agility of this bike were particularly impressive. Whether for long rides or criteriums, this bike ticked all the boxes. The simplicity of the frame, with its thin, round tubing and versatile geometry, provides a unique riding experience on both flat terrain and climbs. The addition of the Roval Rapide CLX wheels allowed me to gain aerodynamic advantages while maintaining the responsiveness offered by the bike's geometry and shape. It's also a very stable bike that inspires confidence in corners and descents.

Thomas's recommendation
“ Here are my 3 must-haves for my bike rides:
- Sufficient carbohydrate intake depending on the duration and intensity of the effort! My two favorite products are Krono Nutrition Electrolytes 1kg Lemon Lime and Skratch Labs Super High-Carb Raspberry Electrolyte Mix 840g . To avoid the dreaded " bunk ," I make sure to consume enough carbohydrates with the Skratch mix, which tastes good and is very easy to digest. As for hydration, Krono electrolytes do a great job by helping to prevent dehydration while providing a good source of carbohydrates.
- My Camelbak Hydrobak Light 1.5L hydration pack is essential for my long gravel bike rides. When I ride near the border and farmland, convenience stores and/or water fountains are very rare, so I make sure to fill my hydration pack to the brim before setting off and at every stop. This allows me to enjoy my ride without having to worry about finding a water source every hour; it's a real game changer.
- A playlist that suits my taste. Whether it's for an interval session or a long day in the saddle, I make sure I have some music to go with me; it helps me get through the rough patches sometimes! Kendrick Lamar has always managed to brighten up my grayer rides, especially with his early albums. Dead Obies will always hold a special place in my ears too .
