Employee Spotlight: Julien, Store Manager
In our employee spotlight series, meet the individuals who keep the cycling spirit alive at Bicycles Quilicot. Today, we introduce Julien, store manager in Mascouche — passionate about classic bikes, long-distance rides, and ambitious projects.
Background and Experience
“ I joined Bicycles Quilicot in 2020. At the time, I was a chef in a private restaurant, but the pandemic pushed me to rethink my career path. I started at the Sainte-Thérèse store, then worked in Terrebonne and Laval. Now, I’m the store manager in Mascouche! ”

Cycling Practice
“ Coming from a different sports background, I started road cycling a bit late. I would describe myself as a recreational cyclist with a small taste for performance — I do enjoy pushing my legs to the limit! I mainly ride road and gravel, but I also enjoy mountain biking. I like climbing even if I don’t exactly have the physique for it. And a good speed session on the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve is always satisfying. ”
“ I also love rebuilding vintage bikes from the 80s–90s, then riding them to see how much bike geometry has changed over the years. I enjoy cross-country mountain biking as well, or simply heading out with my daughter and two dogs on the trails behind my home in Terrebonne. My passion for bikes shows up in many forms… sometimes to the dismay of my loved ones! ”

Favorite Bike
“ Like many bike enthusiasts, it’s a multiple-choice question. My favorite bike is often the one I feel like riding at a specific moment. Most of the time, it’s my steel bike equipped with a mechanical Campagnolo drivetrain. I appreciate modern tech — carbon, electronics — but nothing beats the simplicity and feel of a good mechanical gruppo. ”

Cycling Essentials
“ The standout event of 2025 for me was the 325 km Race Across Québec. To complete the ride, I relied on a few essentials:
– My Assos Cargo bib shorts, with side and rear pockets perfect for my phone and NÄAK nutrition.
– NÄAK gels and their BOOST drink mix — my go-to fuel.
– My Shokz Openrun Pro 2 headphones for the longer, quieter sections.
– My Restrap frame bag for all the required gear. ”
Julien’s Recommendation
“ A fall ride through La Mauricie National Park in October is hard to beat. It’s accessible, beautiful, and just challenging enough. ”
“ I also highly recommend getting a smart trainer for winter. It’s much more affordable and accessible than before, and it lets you stay in shape through the colder months. Come spring, you’ll be ready to challenge your friends to the first town-sign sprints! ”
“ So… shall we ride? ”
