- Be a Laval resident
- Have purchased an eligible new electric assist bicycle, for yourself or for your child aged 14 to 17*
*When the subsidy application is for an electric assist bicycle to be ridden by a minor aged 14 to 17, a photocopy of the minor's class 6D driver's license authorizing the operation of a moped in accordance with the Regulations respecting driver's licences is required, as well as proof that the eligible applicant is the parent or guardian of the minor concerned by the subsidy application.
- Have purchased an electric assist bicycle between April 20, 2018, and December 31, 2019
- Submit the subsidy application form, accompanied by the required documents, to the City of Laval no later than January 31, 2020:
- Complete copy of the invoice from a merchant detailing the purchase of a new electric assist bicycle
- Copy of 2 recent proofs of residency of the eligible applicant within the City's territory at the time of the subsidy application
- Authorize a representative of the City of Laval to conduct verifications regarding the compliance of the information provided in the subsidy application
- Has handlebars and is equipped with pedals
- Designed to ride on a maximum of 3 wheels in contact with the ground
- Can be propelled by muscular effort
- Equipped with a rechargeable battery that is not a lead-acid battery
- Equipped with one or more electric motors having, alone or in combination, the following characteristics:
- the total nominal continuous output power, measured at the shaft of each motor, does not exceed 500 W
- if engaged by muscular effort, the motor propulsion ceases as soon as the effort ceases
- if engaged by an acceleration control, the motor propulsion ceases as soon as the brakes are applied
- it no longer provides assistance when the electric assist bicycle reaches a speed of 32 km/h on flat ground
- Bears a label, which specifies in both official languages, that it is an electric assist bicycle
- Equipped with one of the following safety devices:
- an on/off mechanism to start and stop the electric motor
- a mechanism that prevents the motor from engaging before the bicycle has reached a speed of 3 km/h
