Presentation
As workshop manager and trainer at our Mascouche branch, Nicolas ensures that our team provides the best possible maintenance for your bike, to the point of taking as much care of it as if it were their own. As a trainer, he also passes on his expertise and passion to the talents of tomorrow, to guarantee quality know-how among our future mechanics.
His road with Bicycles Quilicot
Nicolas is now a long-standing member of the Bicycles Quilicot family, having been with us for 10 years. After putting his talent to good use in our Laval store, he recently joined the adventure of launching our Mascouche branch , where he now works as workshop manager.
His favorite style of cycling
Nicolas is an avid gravel biker, which gives him an unrivalled sense of freedom. Whereas riding a road bike in an urban environment or on busy roads can bring a certain amount of stress, gravel allows Nicolas to escape from this environment by immersing himself in nature, on magnificent isolated trails.
His favorite bike
Nicolas rides a Bombtrack, a magnificent bike that perfectly symbolizes the spirit of gravel. For him, it represents the perfect blend of comfort and performance, thanks in particular to its steel frame, which absorbs the vibrations of the roughest trails to perfection. He also chose steel for its strength and durability, two important criteria for gravel riding on rough trails. What's more, with the right spacing for wide tires, it can of course be ridden just about anywhere, whatever the terrain. Add to this an electronic transmission for even greater reliability and precision, and you've got a bike that perfectly matches your aspirations and your gravel riding.
His must-have equipments for his rides
For Nicolas, the number 1 piece of equipment that every cyclist should have with them, whatever their riding style, is a
repair kit for punctures and mechanical damage
. The other essential accessory for his outings is
a good GPS
: for him, you shouldn't hesitate to choose the most reliable and accurate model possible to find your way in all circumstances, especially on gravel adventures where it can sometimes be difficult to get your bearings. Last but not least,
a handlebar bag
or
frame bag
is always a must, not only for tools but also for nutrition and additional accessories, such as external batteries for the many electronic devices found on our bikes.
Nicolas' recommendation
Nicolas' tip? To re-inflate your tires in the event of a puncture, opt for a
portable pump
rather than a CO2 cartridge. In addition to being more environmentally responsible, you're guaranteed to be able to deal with any eventuality and several punctures on the same outing, whereas with cartridges, you're inevitably limited in number and therefore in repair possibilities. Finally, for gravel enthusiasts, Nicolas particularly recommends the Bromont area, where you can get away from it all on some magnificent trails ;)
