Blog Post - Warm Cycling Clothing to Extend Your Season

The days are getting shorter and the temperature is getting cooler, but that's no reason to put your bike away just yet.

When arm warmers, leg warmers, and sleeveless vests are no longer enough, there are several garments and accessories specifically designed to help you extend your cycling season. These are also the same clothes you'll wear to start the next season.

That being said, there is a system that is not exclusive to cycling but applies just as much to running and other outdoor sports: the layering system. In addition to keeping you dry and warm, this system offers the advantage of being able to add and remove layers to adapt to changes in temperature or weather conditions during your rides.

The system is made up of 3 layers:

  • the base layer: worn directly on the skin, it acts as a protective barrier against moisture;
  • the mid-layer: worn over the base layer, its function is to protect you from the cold. It participates in the moisture-wicking process initiated by the base layer. Its thickness can vary depending on the outside temperature;
  • the outer layer: it acts as a barrier against the elements and protects you from wind, rain, and snow.

Here are some of the products you'll find in stores to protect you from the elements, keep you warm, and extend your cycling season in comfort!
