Bicycles Quilicot is proud to support the first edition of its gran fondo, Défi Ataxie, which will be held on September 28, 2014.
The event is a gran fondo sanctioned by the FQSC (Fédération québécoise des sports cyclistes) and is part of the Québec Gran Fondo Challenge series.
This gran fondo offers various routes in the beautiful Maskoutain region, starting from St-Hyacinthe and heading along the Yamaska River. This ride, open to all, will allow you to discover a vast panorama of country valleys that you can explore at your own pace.
In addition to being a sporting activity, Défi Ataxie is an event to raise awareness and funds for Friedreich's ataxia research.
Ataxia Canada counts on the goodwill of participants who support this cause and invites them to raise additional funds for Ataxia Canada. To do so, register as an individual or team fundraiser.
What is ataxia?
Ataxia is a symptom, not a specific disease. The term "ataxia" refers to coordination disorders. Hereditary ataxias are neurological, genetic, and degenerative diseases of the central nervous system (CNS) characterized by the degeneration of the cerebellum or anatomical areas, including the various nerves connected to it.
