Presentation and career at Bicycles Quilicot

"My name is Laurent and I've been working at Bicycles Quilicot since the 2018 season. Since then, I've worked as a salesperson, technician and now in human resources. I can mainly be found in the stores north of Montreal, namely Mascouche, Laval and Sainte-Thérèse."

Cycling Style

"I mainly ride gravel bikes, because I like being able to ride side by side in good company, without having to worry about cars. For me, cycling is a way to keep fit, but also to socialize! "

Favorite bikes

"My bike is an extension of my personality: simple, approachable and fun to be around. My bike of choice since this year is the Specialized Diverge E5 comp equipped with the new Sram Apex Eagle 12-speed mechanical groupset. It's an aluminum bike with a carbon fork, hydraulic disc brakes, a single-plate drivetrain with a cassette allowing great versatility, Specialized Pathfinder Pro tires in 42mm width offering comfort and good rolling resistance thanks to its smooth central tread and the future shock system on the handlebars. My requirements are amply met with these features, and at this price, it's hard to say no!

I love riding it because it's comfortable enough to be taken out every day, and versatile enough to lend itself to any suggestion from friends to go riding, no matter what kind of outing they're planning. It's an all-round bike, perfect for the eternally indecisive like me."

Equipement must have's

"I can't go out riding without my sunglasses as my eyes are very sensitive.  If the weather isn't as sunny, I'll go with a photochromic version as they will adapt to the light level.  When the sun's out, I go with my favorite Oakley Sutro 24k. They look amazing and the lense is dark enough to keep me from squinting throughout my ride. et enlève they're probably my favorite.

I also keep track of all my rides using my Wahoo Elemnt Rival multisport gps watch. I do this for the pleasure of keeping track of my own statistics and health data.  I like to have an idea, during and after the outing of my physical performance in terms of heart rate, distance and duration.  This allows me to see the GPS track made on a map without having the display in view during the whole ride.  Also, for those who lie to do a different variety of sport in addition to cycling, this watch will be there for you, keeping track of all your information on a daily basis.

I swear by Shimano PD-M520 pedals. Anyone who's tried riding clipped in pedals knows that there's no turning back once you've tried them. These are the least expensive pedals in Shimano's system, but they're as durable as a Tank. They're an essential for me, no matter how far or how long the ride."

Laurent's recommandations

"Bring some real food on the bike, especially if you know it's a little sinful for you. A slice of banana bread from my wife, a piece of carrot cake from my mom, there's nothing better to re-energize yourself.

A good pair of cycling shorts is also something that takes an outing from good to incredible. The comfort I've found in the Assos Mille GT shorts is incomparable for me. A real cloud.

And finally, a special mention for a good playlist of country music on a small wireless speaker to put a smile on my face as I bike to work. It energizes me, puts me in a good mood and makes me enjoy the moment."
