Orléans island tour

Orléans island in the Quebec City region is a favorite destination for road cyclists. Easily accessible from downtown by crossing the island's bridge near the Montmorency Falls, it's a true escape into the heart of nature, where the terrain alternates between flat stretches and steep hills, ideal for a varied sporting challenge, all with a splendid view of the rich surrounding landscapes: the cities of Quebec and Lévis, the Trois Sommets mountain range and the mouth of the St. Lawrence River.

The Anse trail

South of downtown Quebec City, a dedicated bike path has been built along the river below the Plains of Abraham to boost cycle tourism around the capital. Continuing all the way to the Quebec Bridge, it has become one of the region's most popular road bike routes! The route then continues across the river to Lévis, alternating between two superb vantage points overlooking the hills and beautiful neighborhoods of Quebec City and Lévis. It's a fairly sporty route, including some of the climbs on the route of the annual Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec!

A riverside getaway

It's always motivating to set a goal for your outing when you're road biking, and what better way to do it in Quebec City than to take in the Montmorency Falls, a major attraction for the city and even the region. On this very accessible route, you'll then continue along the St. Lawrence River to Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, with beautiful views over the landscapes of Île d'Orléans in particular. This route is ideal for practising your speed on the flat, all in a setting that couldn't be more pleasant!

Jacques Cartier river loop

Here, we venture northwest of Quebec City, away from the beaten track and into the natural riches of the capital's surroundings. Along the Jacques Cartier River, a fine gravel trail (easily accessible for any road bike) winds through charming villages and small valleys, ideal for working on your fitness and endurance.

Beauport lake loop

Lac Beauport is a must for weekend getaways for Quebec City residents, and it's also a perfect spot for road biking from the heart of the city. Here too, venturing north of Quebec City, the road is never really flat: one false flat and a few fairly steep stretches follow another, and you can feel that you're getting steeper the closer you get to your goal: the lake. A perfect place to take a break, refresh and refuel. In short, a route that combines business with pleasure!
